Jewish Family Service Greater Harrisburg

Harrisburg

Volunteers have always been the heart and soul of JFS, and one of the main ways we can make our services available to so many people in our community. We have several gratifying opportunities for youth volunteers.
1. AdoptionLinks Program – Opportunity for youth 16-18 who have experience with young children providing childcare during a 1.5 to 2 hour monthly support group meetings for adoptive parents. Must have background check to ensure no probation involvement; hours may not be used for court mandated service. For info, contact Program Director, Rachel Kuhr at 717-233-1681 or rkuhr@jfsofhbg.org.
2. Finkelstein-Cohen Kosher Meals on Wheels Program – Pack kosher meals on Sunday afternoons for delivery to homebound seniors in the Harrisburg area. Requirements include reliable transportation to/from the packing location on Linglestown Rd; adherence to food safety and kitchen sanitation protocols and attention to detail. For info, please contact Kosher Meals on Wheels coordinator, John Jantos at 717-233-1681 or jjantos@jfsofhbg.org.
3. Jewish Family Service Food Pantry – Need a teenager with good organizational skills and a passion for helping individuals and families put food on their tables. Primary responsibility would include stocking the shelves, taking inventory, and checking for expiration dates. For info, please contact Business Office Manager, Chudney Lewis: clewis@jfsofhbg.org.

Mission Central

Mechanicsburg

Needs range from general warehouse labor, to assembling UMCOR Kits, to taking inventory and assorting donated materials, to maintenance of the building and property. No talent or offer of time is too small. Prayerfully consider what God may be leading you to do.
Parental consent is needed for ages 16-17. Volunteers under the age 16, must have an adult present.
