Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources

PA State Parks

Conservation Volunteers are people who care about protecting and enhancing our natural resources. People of all ages can participate in the program, which matches interests and abilities with appropriate outdoor projects. You can join us as a group or as an individual. Some parks and forests have specific projects for volunteers. Many times volunteers create a project or finds a need and approaches park/forest district management to offer their services in getting the work accomplished. Volunteering experience can benefit youth in many life-long ways. Youth conservation volunteering can assist with getting a ‘first job’ or references for college-type activities, or their foot in the door for outdoor careers.

Parental consent is needed on the application. Age restrictions – youth have to be capable of doing the volunteer work asked of them and parents are expected to be present. Exceptions might be possible with youth 16 and older. Groups doing a group effort may have ‘chaperones’ for supervision, and the organized group’s adult contact can give permission on behalf of all youth.
