The Scrap Exchange

Durham

The Scrap Exchange is a friendly, creative, and fun place to volunteer. Our mission is to promote creativity, environmental awareness, and community through reuse. With a small core staff, we rely on volunteers to help process and organize materials, clean and maintain the store, and generally keep things running smoothly. We welcome volunteers who can commit to a regular schedule or those who wish to volunteer on a short-term basis. Projects may include sorting donations, packaging materials, and organizing our store as well as general tidying. We welcome volunteers with all kinds of abilities and interests to be a part of our scrappy team.
The Scrap Exchange accepts volunteers as young as 14 years old. Anyone under the age of 18 must have a guardian sign a liability waiver and parental consent form before they volunteer, both of which can be found on our website. Everyone has to go through a volunteer orientation before they get started, and they can also receive a copy of the liability waiver and consent form at that time. Anyone from the ages of 10-14 must be accompanied by an adult while they volunteer, including their orientation. The Scrap Exchange does not accept volunteers under the age of 10.
